Biography

The date of death on his tombstone is 12 May 1870 . The tombstone states that he died at age of 62 years, four months and 13 days. If accurate, that would make the date of birth 29 Dec 1807 although others have incorrectly calculated different dates of birth. [Note that if subtracting the larger units before subtracting the smaller units, one arrives at a DOB of 30 Dec 1807. In either case, the Findagrave year date of 1808 is incorrect.[1]

Explanation of calculation of DOB. Date of death is 12 May 1870, age at death is 62 years 4 months and 13 days. If date of birth is 29 Dec 1807, then he would be age 62 on 29 Dec 1869, and 62 years four months on 29 Apr 1808. April has 30 days. So on 1 May 1808 he would be 62 years four months and 2 days old. Eleven days later, on 12 May 1808 he would be 62 years, four months and 13 days old on the date of his death.
