Ira was born in 1840. He mustered into Co "H" 85th NY Infantry as a private on Sep 2,1861 at Andover,NY. He was 21 years old at the time. He was captured, Apr 20,1864 at Plymouth,NC. He was incarcerated as a POW in Andersonville Prison, where he died of scurvy. [1]
