Aaron Bailey was born on March 15, 1774 in Westmoreland, Cheshire, Province of New Hampshire, son of Jethro Bailey (1741–<1810) and Hannah Davis (1741–~1797).

Aaron was born in 1774, probably in Jaffrey, NH. He was married Mar. 15, 1797 at Westmoreland, NH to Mary Winchester, daughter of Jonathan Winchester and Eunice (Smith) Winchester of Westmoreland, NH. Mary was born Feb. 6, 1778 at Westmoreland, NH. They had at least ten children, the first one born 1798 at Westmoreland, NH and the others in New York state including Onondaga County and Wyoming County. They were living in Yellow Creek, Stephenson County, IL by the time the 1840 census was taken, then with the family of their daughter Eunice Harmon at Erin Township, Stephenson County, IL when the 1850 census was taken. Mary Bailey died Feb. 4, 1851 at Lena, IL, age 72. Widower Aaron Bailey died Jan. 1, 1857 at Lena, IL, age 82. They were buried at Lena Burial Park, at Lena, Stephenson County, IL

Aaron (23) married Mary Winchester (18) (born on February 6, 1779 in Westmoreland, New Hampshire; daughter of Jonathan Winchester and Eunice (Smith) Winchester) on March 15, 1797 in Westmoreland, Cheshire Co., NH.[1] [2] [3]

Aaron Bailey, a native of New Hampshire, was in the strictest sense of the word a pioneer. When yet a youth, he left his native hills of New Hampshire, for a home at Marcellus, N.Y., when, in 1806, he went to then unsettled wilds of Wyoming County in the same state. In 1840 we find him, true to his pioneer tastes, in this county (Stephenson Co., IL), near the present city of Lena.

"In 1842, during the severe winter months, and when seventy years of age, he returned to his old home in Westmoreland, the place of his boyhood, on horseback, and thence back again in the same manner the following spring, a feat that the youth of "today" would hesitate to undertake. He passed from earthly scenes on New Year's Day, 1857, at the ripe old age of eighty-three years." "Stephenson County Portraits and Biographies - 1888"
