CMSR has a lot of red ink corrections. Originally marked as "mustered out" (at Page 35). Then changed to "died at Andersonville". With a statement from Adjutant General that "accepted as". (at Page 36). [7]
2) Military records describe to different men in the respective physical descriptions. One is born in England and the other is born in Andover, Mass.
CMSR contains a Discharge document showing birth in England.
