Biography

David was born in Preston, Connecticut to David Ayer and his wife Jerusha. He was baptized in the North or Second Church of Preston on 27 Aug 1727. He married first around 1748 and had two children, David (b bef 1750) and Sarah (b 1753). He married second to "Lady" Porter, whose first name may have been Margaret around 1755. They had at least 7 to 9 children before residing in Guilford, Vermont in 1771.

Whose son was the elder David Ayres and who was his first wife? He had two children by his first wife, David and Sarah. The latter married Moses Clark of Hadley, Mass., and later lived in Stamford, Vt., and in Wilmington, Vt., and ended her days in Guilford, NY. The second wife of the elder David Ayres is said to be a Porter - called in the family "Lady" Porter. Is this the David Ayres asked for by L.A. A. Jan 2, 1929, No. 3020, whose line is David (5), David (4), John (3), Thomas (2), John (1)? His date of birth would be about right (1927)."
