Biography

John was born in 1854^[1]. He was the son of John Auld and Jane Murrell.

He was baptised on 16 May 1855 at St Peter, Eaton Square, Pimlico, London, England. His father was a Master Mariner of Stepney^[2].

In 1864 his mother and sister Isabella emigrated from England to New Zealand. John was not with them on the ship, but may have followed suit.

He may have been the John William Auld that married Mary Ann Torrens on 24 May 1878 in Dunedin, New Zealand. If so, they had at least seven children.

John William Auld and Mary Ann are next recorded in 1906 at 209 Havelock Street, Perth, Western Australia, where he was an Ironmoulder.

In the 1916 Australia Electoral Rolls he was recorded at Yarloop in Western Australia, employed as a Moulder.

He passed away in 1932 at the age of about 77 and was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery and Crematorium, Karrakatta, Nedlands City, Western Australia, Australia^[3]. PLOT: Anglican-Ha-0555
