Biography

This profile is part of the Atkinson Name Study.

Archibald was the son of Thomas Atkinson (who was the son of Nathan aka Nathaniel Atkinson) and Rebekah Warren. His mother was upward of 80 years old at death. His father died before he was 6 years old.

He married Martha Fitch Dean 07 Sep 1824 in Morgan County, Georgia.^[1] They appear to still be in Morgan County in 1830.^[2]

In 1840, the family was living in Henry County, Georgia.^[3]

In 1850, the family was listed as Adkinson on the census and was still living in Henry County, Georgia.^[4] Children living at home at the time were Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Burkett, Martha, Georgia Rebecca, and James Archibald.

Archibald wrote a family history on March 3 1879, when he was 83 years old. It gives details about his grandparents, his parents, and other family members. He states that he and Martha had nine children, two of whom died in infancy.^[5]
