• The attached death certificate belongs to the child of a man whose parents are Amanda and JD Ashcraft. Family Search suggests it is this man: John D Ashcraft. more research is need to confirm if it belongs to this profile.

Prior to 30 Dec 2023

• Jerry Ashcraft is the son of J.D. Ashcraft believed to be James or John D. James Ashcraft.

• Jerry C. was the name annotated on the 1910 census in Navarro, Corsicana, Texas along with his wife Sallie and two sons William and Jerry.

• Jerry Ashcraft did not have the suffix of jr. I found him listed in the Methodist orphanage as Lealand/Leland Ashcraft, his age was obscured.

• J.C. and Sallie had 5 children only two of which were living by the 1910 census.

• J.C.'s death certificate lists him as married, however Sallie Adams' death certificate listed her as single. It is unknown if they were married as I have found no records of a marriage between the two.

• Family rumor states Sallie was a woman of 'ill repute' and may be why Rev. Joel L. Ashcraft, believed to be J.C.'s eldest brother, put the two boys in the orphanage.
