Biography

Pierre is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 1 Left. Listed with him are Marie Lincour, Eusebe and Pierre.[1]

Eusebe Arseneau was born around 1761, the first child of Pierre Arseneau and Marie Godin (dit Lincour). He was born in Halifax, Acadia.[2]
Around 1765, his family moved to Louisiana and settled on the West Bank of the Mississippi, in what is now St. James Parish. His father Pierre died shortly after.
Listed in 1766 census of Louisiana Acadian Coast (Cabahannocer).
in 1769, his mother married Basile Prejean, who lived on a neighboring plot of land.
The family moved to the Chetimaches settlement (near what is now Donaldsonville).
Eusebe married Rosalie Bergeron, daughter of Jean Baptiste Bergeron and Marguerite Bernard, in 1788 in St. James Parish, LA. They had 13 children:
