Daniel Arnold was born in South Carolina. He had (at least) one son and one daughter between 1822 and 1827[1].
I am placing this man here on the basis of the death certificate[2] for John Arnold, 1822-1909, which lists "Daniel Arnold" as father, and 1880 census[3] which shows John's father's birthplace as SC, but that is not much to go on. Several other trees on Ancestry.com show John's father as Jesse Arnold, born 1801[4], as speculated above, but records cited tend to be either inconclusive or contradictory to this notion -- for instance, 1840 census for Bibb, Alabama[5] is linked on some trees to John as being son of Jesse, but the column for males between 15 and 20 years of age indicates no members of that age group in this household. (John would have been 17 or 18 at the time.) Some other trees show a Daniel Hopkins Arnold, born in Rhode Island, as John's father, but that would make the 1880 census entry incorrect (which is entirely possible), but again we're lacking corroborating citations (with the same problem encountered in the 1840 census for Daniel H Arnold in Gwinnett, Georgia[6] as that in Bibb Alabama under Jesse Arnold; also have a problem with the 1850 census for Daniel Hopkins[7], with a John D Arnold in the household, age 29, four years after our John had married Idumea Cantrell).
Further note inre Daniel Hopkins Arnold of Rhode Island: 1910 census for "John Daniel Arnold," Martin, Gwinnett, Georgia[8], shows John's father's birthplace as Rhode Island, but this is the year after our John's death. Too many Johns...
