I'm working on my entire family tree, but I am an absolute beginner. My maternal grandmother has spent the greater part of her life doing hard core genealogical research on my maternal line. She is 87 and has Alzheimer's now, so as the eldest grandchild, I have volunteered to receive all her documentation (her life's work: many boxes worth and a number of books) and digitize as much of her work as possible. In the meantime, I am working on fleshing out my paternal line with research, documents I've inherited, and information from living relatives. I joined WikiTree specifically because I think research needs to be free and not gated behind ridiculously priced services. As a librarian, I view financial gate-keeping to information/research as problematic.

Hello Stacy,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
