The following obituary was taken from his Find a Grave page:

BOULDER DAILY CAMERA Monday, April 20, 1970

SETH ARMSTEAD, LONG-TIME AREA RESIDENT, DIED SATURDAY EVENING Seth A. Armstead Sr., of 100 Lashley Lane, died Saturday evening at Boulder Community Hospital. He had been ill for several months.

Mr. Armstead was born to William and Caroline Fry Armstead in Byron, Nebraska[1] on May 27, 1892. The family moved to Colorado in 1909.

He married Wilberta (Hupp) Armstead in 1917 in Denver.[2] She died in Boulder in October 1949. Then Mr. Armstead and Leah Lee were married in June 1951 in Aurora, ill.

Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Col. Seth A. Armstead Jr., U.S. Air Force, Biloxi, Miss,, and William E. Armstead of Boulder; a brother, Benjamin F. Armstead of Boulder; four grandchildren: Mrs. Sue Armstead Poland, Colton, Calif., Miss Kelly Armstead, Biloxi, Miss., John Michael Armstead with the U.S. Air Force in Japan, and William David Armstead, serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. A sister, Bessie Jane Armstead, and a brother, Roy Armstead, preceded him in death.

Mr. Armstead and his brother Roy operated the Kite-Glacier Transportation Company in Boulder from 1915 to 1918. Later they operated their own sightseeing company for many years in Colorado during the summer months.

He drove for Sutherland Bus Lines, San Diego, Calif., during the winter months from 1926 to 1930. From 1930 to 1956, during the winter months, he and his brother Benjamin were engaged in the paint, body, and decorating business in Boulder, Also, Mr. Armstead was interested in mining for several years. He had been retired since 1956. He was an active member of the Boulder Elk's Lodge for many years.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Houser of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. He will be buried in Green Mountain Cemetery.
