On October 23, 1863, his mother filed for a Civil War pension, Application No. 36697. Her application was approved and she received Certificate No. 6424. [2]
Elizabeth Anderson, his mother, filed for a pension. She was a resident of McLean County, Illinois. Her post office address was Bloomington, Illinois. Her husband, James Anderson (Jeremiah's father), died on December 31, 1862 at Bloomington, Illinois. She was last paid $12 to December 4, 1889. She was dropped from the pension rolls due to her death. On September 3, 1863, her other son, Private James D Anderson, 8th Missouri Infantry, died of typhoid fever. [3]

Private Jeremiah Anderson Died of Wounds during the United States Civil War.
In August, 1863, while at Camp Sherman, Private Anderson was wounded by a musket shot from an unknown person, supposed to be the enemy. He was taken sick and died soon after the wound. (Affidavit of William M Stahl, Co. E, 8th Missouri Volunteers, Pension File Page 16) [3]
