OBITUARY.

MRS. B. C. LIST. An old and esteemed citizen of Hastings passed away this morning at her residence, Nelson street, in the person of Mrs. Bertha Christina List, at the age of 74 years. She arrived in New Zealand fifty years ago, in the ship “Havden,” with her husband (who predeceased her six months ago) and two children, landing at Napier. She settled at first in Norsewood, soon after moving. to Havelock North, and thence to Hastings, where she lived ever since. She leaves a family of two daughters—Mrs. Scharra and Mrs. B. Adamson, of Hastings—and four sons —Messrs Tom List (Hastings), Eneir List (Puketitiri) Frederick List (Auckland), and Otto List (postmaster at Piopio). She had 22 grandchildren. The deceased lady had been in failing health for some time, and her malady took a serious turn last night, resulting in her death. ^[3]

Bertha was mentioned on a memorial in Hastings Cemetery and Crematorium, Camberley, Hastings District, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand with a death date of 21 February 1922.^[4]
