Military Service and Death

Private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Company G. Enlisted from Kentucky on 14 April 1863. He was 30, single and working as a farmer. Wounded in action at Fort Wagner on 18 July 1863 and died of his wounds on 7 August 1863.

His grave is at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
