Faro Amato is the father of Frank "Big Dick" Amato, a Morello gangster. A marriage record for Faro's wife, Antoinette Leema, has not yet been found.

Faro and Antoinette, who is also called Lena, have at least two children, Saverio/Edward (c. 1887) and Frank (1902).

Saverio is born 28 March 1887, according to the record of his burial.[2] He appears in census records as "Edward."

Faro Amato and Luke Sebella, a recent arrival from Corleone, are shot by three African Americans on 17 April 1906 in Los Angeles, California.[7]

The Daily Nevada State Journal reports the shooting occurred on Enterprise St.[7], while The Los Angeles Herald says the fight was at 8th and Wilson Streets.[8] 8th St. is between Wilson and Enterprise Streets.

The 'Los Angeles Herald reports the Italians were leaving a friend’s house in Sacramento St. (between Wilson and 8th), and were at corner of Enterprise and Wilson when their assailants stepped out from behind a growth of large castor beans. Robbery was not evidently the motive of the shooting. The violence is believed to be the result of a race war between "negroes" and Italians in the colony in the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.[7]

Faro was a lumberman by trade, 35 years old (b. 1871), native of Italy.[8]

Faro dies in the Receiving Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, on 19 April 1906 from a “homocidal” gunshot wound. He is about 35 years old, his date of birth unknown. He is a resident of Los Angeles, married, born in Italy, a laborer. His parents names are not known. He is buried in New Calvary on 22 April 1906.[9][10]

Frank dies 28 May 1931 in Manhattan.[11] He is buried in Old St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.[2]

Saverio dies 13 November 1934. He is buried with Frank.[2]
