Biography

Drury was born about 1785 at Pittsylvania, Virginia. He passed away about 1864. [1] Drury Alsup, son of John C. Alsup and Agnes Costello. Drury married Tabitha Brown, 27 Jan 1806, [2] at Williamson Co, Tennessee.

Drury moved his family from Tennessee, then to Monroe Co, Mississippi, and on to Bastrop Co, Texas where he and his wife died. [3] They were buried in a cemetery on their family farm. 4 graves located there.

  7. Emily Ann (Alsup) Turner, b. October 24, 1822 in Monroe, Tennessee.
  8. Horace Brown Alsup, b. in 1826 in Monroe, Tennessee.

Marriage bond transcription

Know all men by these presents that we, Drury Alsup & Joseph Roberts both of Williamson County State of of (sic) Tennessee are held & bound to his Excellency the Governor of said State for the time being in the sum of twelve hundred and fifty dollars, to whom payment well & truly to be made we bond ourselves and Him be jointly generally sealed with our seal this 27 th day of January 1806 The condition of this obligation is such that whereas the above bound Drury Alsup hath this day paid? & ? a ? to marry Tabitha Brown Now if the said Tabitha is an actual resident of Williamson County when shall not hearafter appear any just cause or impediment why the said Drury Alsup & Tabitha Brown should not be joined as husband & wife then this obligation to be said else to remain in full force and virtue.
