Early Life

Warner Otto Alder was born 1 Dec 1914 to Otto Warner and Louise Amelia Kohler Alder][1][2][3] in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, United States.

Warner's father, Otto, died in 1920 from the flu when Warner was only 5 years old. His mother, Louise, had to sell off all their assets and move out of the ranch they were renting. She purchased a home at 201 S Sampson in Ellensburg, Washington where she raised their six children alone with the help of her uncle, Otto Kohler and his wife, Anna.

As a child, Warner was active in the Future Farmers of America and was a member of the Ellensburg Gun Dog Club in which he competed with a pointer named Trix.[4] Warner and most of his siblings lived with Louise well into young adulthood and they all started working young.

Warner registered for the World War II Draft on 16 Oct 1940 in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, United States.[5] He enlisted in the Army Air Corps (serial number 19060369) on 4 Jan 1942 in Seattle, King County, Washington.[6] He served in World War II with the 248th Base Unit as an aerial engineer and was stationed in England, Sicily, Italy, and Africa for 27 months and got to spend two weeks at home before deploying to a base in Alliance, Nebraska.[4] Warner received an honorable discharge on 14 Sep 1945 at the rank of tech sergeant.[7]

Occupation

Warner was a carpenter. In 1945, Warner and two men named Chuck Witt and Harvey Anderson started a building firm named Progressive Builders and built a 40x60 shop at 206 N Kittitas Ave, in Ellensburg, Washington.[4] Warner served as Vice President. Harvey was previously living with the family while he was working as a Secretary for Fulton Construction Company. Harvey is not yet connected to Wikitree but there is a photo of him and some details about him on the Washington Rural Heritage website. Chuck also has a photo on the same website.

Family

Warner married Vivian Hansen 4 Sep 1947. They filed their marriage in Kittitas County, Washington, United States[8][9][10][11] but they solemnized their marriage in Seattle, Washington at the Woodland Park Presbyterian Church in Seattle with Rev W. M. Thompson officiating. He was formerly with the Presbyterian Church in Ellensburg. Warner's youngest sister and her husband attended. They spent their week long honeymoon in Seattle and Hoquiam, Washington areas and then lived at the Dicksonian Apartments in Ellensburg upon their return which were at 703 N Pearl. [4][12]

Warner was a member of the American Legion Post 8 and The Elks Lodge. He once ran for Ellensburg Precinct Constable.[4]

Death

Warner passed away on 29 Jun 1955, in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, United States in a motor vehicle accident.[26] He was driving on the Yakima Canyon Highway, eight miles south of Ellensburg, Washington when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree. He died instantly from multiple fractures and a concussion.[4] He was buried in the I.O.O.F (Brick Road) Cemetery in Ellensburg, Washington on 1 July 1955.[27][28] He was 40. Vivian was now a young widow at the age of 26. Their sons were only 2 and 6 years old.[29][30]
