Charles Albright was an American lawyer, politician and soldier. Albright served as a Colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was a Brevet Brigadier General. Albright was a member of the United States House of Representatives.

Charles Albright was born on December 13, 1830, in Berks County, Pennsylvania. [1][2] He was the son of Solomon Albrecht and Maria (Miller) Albrecht/ [3]
Albright was a student at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. [4][2] In 1852, Albright was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and begin a law practice in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania. [4][5][6]
On August 21, 1862, Charles Albright mustered in as a Major in the 132nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. [7][6] At the Battle of Antietam, Major Albright temporarily commanded the regiment. [6]
In October, Albright was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel (with rank from September 18, 1862). On January 24, 1863, Albright was promoted to Colonel in command of the 132nd Regiment. Colonel Albright mustered out of the 132nd on May 2, 1863. Albright was Colonel of the 34th Regiment, Emergency Militia. In September 1864, Colonel Albright took command of the 202nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. [6][5] On March 7, 1865, Albright was brevetted Brigadier General. [6] On August 3, 1865, Albright mustered out of service. [4][6][5]
After the War, Albright returned to Mauch Chunk and resumed the practice of law. [6] Albright was elected to the 43rd Congress. He did not run for reelection in 1874 and returned to the practice of law. [4]
Charles Albright passed away in 1880. He was buried at Mauch Chunk Cemetery, Tim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. [1]
