Joseph Adamo migrated from Italy to the United States.
Giuseppe was born about 1883 in the province of Crotone, Calabria, Italy, the son of Francesco Adamo of Strongoli, Italy and arrived in America in 1902.
He married Pasqualina Di Tommaso about 1913 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.
He was listed as Joe Adams the next of kin for his brother Luigi Adamo who died in 1918 in the First World War. The address given was 97 Washington Street which was also the address given by his other brother Salvatore Adamo when he arrived from Naples, Italy in 1921, although the newly-arrived brother referred to him as Giuseppe.
Joseph died in 1941 and was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.[1]
Research Notes
Immigrated from Naples to New York in 1902. Naturalization papers state his date of birth was June 23, 1882. Death certificate states it was June 24, 1887 and says that he was 54 years, 3 months and 18 days which would make 1887 correct.
However, his gravestone says 1883, so the exact date is uncertain. It's possible he could have lied on his naturalization papers to make himself older but why his death certificate doesn't match the gravestone doesn't make any sense.
