Biography

Margaret was born in 1812 in Dunfermline. Her parents were Henry Adam and Margaret Cook .Her father was an Enginekeeper in Dunfermline colliery. ^[1]In the 1851 census Margaret (age 39) was the wife of Thomas Danks in Rumblingwell, Dunfermline, Fife.^[2]After Margaret's husband passed away in 1856, she worked as a Grocer in Rumbingwell, Fife.^[3]In the 1881 census Margaret (age 68), Annuitant, was the mother-in-law of Arthur Morris at 74 Rumbling Well, Dunfermline, Fife.^[4]In the 1891 census Margret (age 79) was the head of household at 72 Rumbling Well, Dunfermline, Fife.^[5]

Marriage and Children

Margaret married Thomas Danks on the 1st of June 1833 in Dunfermline. ^[6]Thomas was a Stone Mason and the couple had 10 children born between 1834 and 1897.

Research notes

Margaret and her sister Jane married brothers Thomas and John. This means many of the children have the same names and of course the same mother's maiden name.This can cause some confusion.
