Margaret, there is nothing in writing but the name Sanford could come from the name Cecile de Sanford who married William de Gorham. She was the matron of honor to sister of the King of England. There is some writings about her. When William died she took the vow of chasity and wanted to join the Catholic church novice(I think ) but the King persuaded her to remarry. I can't recall who he was but I can research it again and find the name.

Hi

I started working on my family tree in 1988. One piece of paper with names on it and a few names I got from relatives and many trips to the library. Researching is easier today.

Any information I can supply to anyone I will be glad to.
