David Alan Ackerman was born on July 18, 1949 in Derry, New Hampshire. He was the son of Franklin and Doris Edmunds Ackerman and the brother of Peter, Paul, Shirley and Franklin W Ackerman.
David served with the 25th Infantry Division, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, Company B. He was a Private First Class.
He began his Vietnam tour on May 9, 1968.
PFC David Alan Ackerman was killed in action in Binh Duong, South Vietnam, along with 8 other men during "Operation Toan Thang II" on June 6, 1968.
