Has wikitree stopped awarding badges for G2G?

Nope! It just isn't done automatically. I think one of the team members periodically checks for people who've gone over 6000 points and awards the badge. I just awarded it to you. :)

And some of us hide a lot of our badges. I can only speak for myself but I do not crave recognition for doing something that I would do without the badges.

To each their own. For me badges aren't necessarily about recognition; I want them for my own sense of accomplishment, whether others look at them or not. (You should see my collection of Girl Guide badges.)

I was involved with Boy Scouts as a youth and then an Adult Leader for over 50 years, I have both the 50th and 100th anaversery badges for Boy Scouts, and turned down a very coveted award (Order of the Arrow) to allow another member take my place.  We both qualified but only 2 adults per troop per year can get in so I did not do that, or this, for the recognition. I do this for the satisfaction of providing a better understanding of where we came from to the younger generation.
