Marie Josephe Angélique - Recognizing the start of Black History Month in Canada

As Black History Month begins in Canada, Marie Josephe's story is a sobering reminder that Canada's contribution to black history does not begin with our role in the Underground Railroad. We have our own skeletons in the closet, and our own examples of slavery and racism to confront.

Thanks to Canada Project's Danielle Liard for all of her excellent work on this profile.

Here here!

Danielle, I particularly like the way you connected Angélique through her owners and the people involved in the trial, as well as her children.
Thanks, took some profile creation for a lot of them, one of the prime witnesses was a child who saw her carrying embers in a shovel.  That was the testimony which clinched the matter.  All circumstantial basically.

Very interesting read, thank you Danielle for your hard work on this piece.  Nicely done.  Dave was very correct with his statement about "our own skeletons".
