Introducing Myself

I was born in McMinnville, Oregon on 30 January 1956 to William Edward Matz (1918-1981) and Zeda Faye Knox (1924-1915).  I am a Geoarchaeologist by training, having worked as a Federal Archaeologist for the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service for nearly 30 years, before retiring.  I became interested in genealogy about 10 years ago and have continued to research my Matz and Knox roots through DNA and documentary resources. My atDNA profile is mostly Northern Europe and Great Britain.  My Y-DNA 37 STR haplogroup is I-Y16809, found mostly in modern Poland.  My mtDNA is haplogroup H1e8a, found generally in Europe.  I love to do in-depth research and following rabbit holes.
