Who was David Roach of Orange County, Virginia?

Here is yet another person with an apparently invented Cherokee mother.  The David Roach who was father of Reuben, Ruth, and Anne was an English immigrant who worked for a man named Ambrose Madison in Orange County, Virginia. Madison left him property (150 acres)  in his will when he died in 1732. Transcript of the will can be seen on Ancestry at: https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/18900837?h=173b38&utm_campaign=bandido-webparts&utm_source=post-share-modal&utm_medium=copy-url

David died in 1742 and there are numerous records arising from his estate, detailed in this genforum posting: https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/roach/3275/

Aside from the fact that the Cherokee never lived in Virginia, there is no way that a man born in England had a Cherokee mother.

This is a very old tree that was uploaded years ago.  I know that it is incorrect and have not tended to it, primarily concentrating on updating my family tree on ancestry.com here.

Since it does need correction, and I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention (since the same issue bugs me when I see others doing the same thing!) and I did not even realize I had this erroneous information in my tree, I would appreciate someone who is familiar with making changes on wikitree give me some advice on how best to take care of it.  Should I delete the tree and start over since my tree on ancestry is much larger, up to date and has much source information and documents?

Help!

Thanks,

Tim

It looks like you have better information on this family in your Ancestry tree, so I would just detach David from his incorrect parents and wife and then enter the correct information and documentation for the family.

The Littleberry Roach family seems to be totally unrelated although they need help too.  There are eight profiles for men named Littleberry Roach on Wikitree, several of which are duplicates.
