Restructuring the Edit Page? Name fields together.

I looked for a previous question about this topic, even rewording my question to see if I can find one, but to no avail. I have seen, however, this asked in response to other questions. So I'm going to make this short and sweet, knowing that someone will probably find the question where I couldn't. This comes as an official request for an improvement.

1) It would be easier for me if all of the name fields were together on the profile creation and the edit pages. First, preferred, nickname, LNAB, CLN...

2) I would also be easier for me if following birth and death dates the geographic fields followed them.

Is this doable? Is it already on the list of things to look into?

Thanks!

Aren't all the name fields together at the beginning?

I can see why the birth and death locations are where they are, although I also find it a little inconvenient.  The dates precede the initial screening for matches, and I can imagine how the locations would make that more complicated.
On the initial creation of a profile, the nickname and middle name are below the matches suggested.
Oh, right.  That's why I always have to do the "no middle name" with a separate edit.
Hi Julie, off topic, but I wish locations were considered when finding profiles that are already on the WikiTree.  Searching for John Smith by date ranges still gives way too many possibilities on the suggested name list.  Even if the results were alphabetical by location it would be a huge help by narrowing the results list.  John Smith b 1730 to 1760 is impossible to sort through the results. John Smith b in Connecticut in those years would be very helpful.

Maybe just a sort option for the results list would do the trick.
I agree, but now that I look, there are birth and death location fields on the search page.  Have you tried them?

(Also off topic: I always check the "only exact last name matches" option.  Otherwise I get a ton of stuff I don't want.  It is easier to use an exact name search twice, for two different options, than to use the unspecified results.)

Right, but I am talking about the list of possible matches that comes up when you are creating a new profile.  I guess I confused my thoughts there.  I am mainly concerned with "Second, compare close matches that already exist on WikiTree."

If any of the following appear to be a match do not proceed to create the new profile. Connect the existing profile instead.

That is the list I would like to see narrowed by location.  Sorry for my confusing thoughts.

Such an improvement would be welcome, Pip. Probably not going to happen in 2020 or 2021, since there are other "more important" points to first attend. (LOL) But nevertheless, this is a very good suggestion for a profile improvement.

Your request number 2 is actually already on the list of improvements to be done - see the last item on https://trello.com/c/eSnRKkhq/241-improvements-to-the-edit-family-form.

I couldn't see your request number 1 on there anywhere, but I might have missed it.
