Several people have tried to merge these two profiles. I would like some assurance that they are different people.  Delano-66 and Delano-543. I have listed 8 sources that show they are different

Philip Delano's wikipedia page is well-documented at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Delano  See also the Delano Kindred website at http://delanokindred.us/Wordpress/index.php/history/

Jonathan (not John) was an officer in King Philip's war.

I think that part of the confusion here is that Jonathan wasn't mentioned in the settlement of Philip's estate.  The presumed reason for this is that Philip gave to younger son Jonathan his interest in the new town of Dartmouth (a big chunk of land), where Jonathan settled.  Having received this, Jonathan received nothing in the estate.  (I'm descended from Jonathan's son Thomas, of Dartmouth.)

The confusion was compounded by two errors in the wikitree profiles:  Jonathan's son Jonathan, Jr. was wrongly attached to John as a son, and Jonathan's place of death was wrongly entered as Duxbury (where John lived).  I have corrected those errors.

All I would need as proof:  They have two different names. As similar as John and  Jonathan are, they are not the same name and parents frequently named two sons, one John, and another Jonathan.

Is Jonathan also mentioned in the father's will. If so mention that fact in both bio's, and leave up the message not to merge.

John and Jonathan are both project protected, so it will be difficult to merge the two of them.
