I have John Smith's mother as Lucy Ann Smith. John was born 13th if June 1861 probably in Tennessee or possibly in Southern Kentucky. He died 25th of Feburary 1925 in Wayne County Kentucky he was married to Freeley Morgan Smith and had several children together. He died in Wayne County Kentucky and is buried beside his wife Freeley in her family Cemetery of the Morgan Cemetery in Slickford Community of Wayne County Kentucky. One censuses states that his father is unknown with his mother stated at Lucy Ann Smith of Kentucky I would love to know more about her and her life did she marry or have any other children. I do know that John was took in bye the Sloan family. The 1880 Census shows John living with the Sloan family. Any help finding out more about his birth mother would be very appreciated.

Lucy's first name might have been Lucinda. Be sure to look for both names when searching records. Also, the local courthouse where the person was born probably has a website with the link to the county genealogical society... I've found that to be very very helpful. Occasionally do a simple google search. If you can, go to the town where the person was born or lived and look at the records in the local courthouse books, as well as go to the local library and just in general talk to the oldtimers in the town...somebody knows something somewhere :)
