The Southern Husband Outwitted by His Union Wife--An Incredible Story

It's incredible in both senses--dramatic and maybe exaggerated. I'm looking for help finding Kate's marriage records and death information.  Also, what happened to her daughter Myrtle?

Her abusive husband John is my second cousin, four times removed.  I stumbled upon this story while working on my Kissingers.

I looked in Family Search and found nothing for Catherine Gore, b. KY, married Griffin; nor Catherine Griffin, b. KY, married Plake.

I couldn't either.  I did find an online copy of the book:

I looked briefly at the book and didn't immediately see any more clues.

Wow, that's quite a story! Drugged with quinine and characterized as insane -- that reminded me of the film Gaslight. I guess this is the lazy-man's version for those who have neither the time or the skill for true gaslighting. What dreadful people; it's amazing that Catherine could escape.
