I was wondering if any one out there has some tips on helping me find some info from the early 1900's.
My Great Grandmother was married twice but also had a child outside of wedlock. From what I know and have been able to find out from relatives, Margaret Masterson was born in 1906 in Donegal/Fermanagh. It appears that soon after this she was sent to live in Scotland (probably because she was born out of wedlock or to avoid the "Mother/Baby Homes thatbeen in the news recently) with a family called McCormack. This seems to have happened before 1911 as there is no record of her in the census.
At 16 she was married in Scotland and took the name Beattie. In the 1950's she moved to Canada. Up until the 1960's my Grandmother was under the impression that Margaret was her cousin instead of her half sister.
Has anyone come across a similar situation or offer any suggestions on finding futher information?
Thanks Philip
