Hello Connectors!
2019 Aug/Sep Tracker Results
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! As of 15 Aug 2019, the new policy for the monthly Connectors Challenge is that all participants MUST register first, here in this G2G forum posting to qualify. ONLY the tracker results for registered participants will be verified. Hundreds of unqualified connection claims were made during the July Connecathon, so this extra step will ease the work load for the Connectors Project volunteers during the verification process by eliminating mistaken claims by those who have not read these rules. Thanks for your co-operation.
It's time to start connecting!
Thanks to all of you who participated the 2019 Aug/Sep Connectors Challenge. If you haven't checked out the Connectors Chat page, you should! There is a lot of chatter there about what everyone is working on.
Now on to the Connectors Challenge Rules ...
- Register your name and profile number in an answer to this message.
- Pick an existing profile that is not yet connected to the main tree. (Has a puzzle piece icon or does not have a box at the bottom of the page, showing connection to King Henry (Tudor) of England).
- Add a profile for first degree relatives (parent, spouse, sibling, or child) until you connect to another existing profile (which has no puzzle piece icon & has no connection box at bottom of profile) to the original profile you're working on. Make sure you're using good sources on each profile you add!
- You can track your trail by either creating a numbered list OR by using the Tracker. (For the list example: "1. Smith-123 added as spouse of Jones-456, Anytown VR) You only need to reply once. As you make more connections, just edit your post to add your new connections. Say "Connected" when you make the actual connection; we count these, not the profiles in between. If you use the tracker, we will only track when you make the actual connection, NOT for each created profile in between. You can track each step, but be sure to say something like "Connection- Smith-001 connected via Green-500" so we know that's when the actual connection happened.
- The tally is of unconnected branches linked to the global WikiTree tree, NOT sources or profiles added. That said, if you can add a number of sources to a profile, all the better, and sometimes a connection will take a number of profiles to get added. Every one is different, and each one makes our tree better. So, in short, we'll count each "connected!" we see. (Note, this is different than the Connect-a-Thon rules!)
- If either or both profiles you connect did not have good sources before and were already on WikiTree, then you can also count those sources towards the Sourcerers Challenge and the Saturday Sourcerers Sprint.
- All participants who do not already have a Connectors Project badge, will get one.
- Monthlly Winner - the person with the most branches connected to the tree, will get the Connection Challenge Winner badge, and the Top Connector each month will get a spiffy template to wear on their profile page. Stats will be kept on the Connectors Challenge page, just like we do for the Sourcerers Challenge.
Challenge runs from 15 Sep 2019 to 14 Oct 2019.
To avoid causing unnecessary work for other volunteers, PLEASE DO NOT click on the "Connectors Challenge" option if you have NOT made a valid connection.
Irregardless of how many profiles you may have created to link a profile to the global Wikitree, only click the "Connectors Challenge" option ONCE for each Unconnected Branch of relatives.
Ask questions in the comments section here. Thank you!
Follow this month's standings in the 2019 Sep/Oct Connector Challenge Tracker, but please be aware that the results may not be accurate due to false clicks.
Reminder: Do not forget to register here giving us your profile number, as only the results by registered participants will qualify for this challenge.
