Anon, are you asking about the name Drake?  If you Google "origin of surname Drake" you'll get about 395K hits, and you can pick whatever answer you like.  (I confess that I didn't look at all of the hits and check for consistency.)

I would be careful about blind googling, as they can't really tell the origin of the surname. For example, some of my Bulla relations went on for years thinking that they could be part Italian because of looking at similar words when the name Bulla had been adapted from the English Bullough.

Drake is usually English but can sometimes be an adaptation of a name like "Draeger". Only research into your ancestors will tell you for sure.
