Biography says he immigrated on the Abigail in 1635.

Is he covered in Great Migration Directory?

Thank you

He's in The Great Migration, Immigrants to New England 1634-1635. Vol II:739.

Also see he's in NEHGR article but I don't immediately see the vol and page.

Edit: Heather, that II:739 might be the wrong vol and page. Trying to check it directly at American Ancestors.

2nd Edit: Vol II but pg 177 (not 739). Arrival on the Abigail is correct (Anderson cites Hotten). Age 15 or 17 (15 was written over by 17 on original document).

Note Anderson's COMMENTS: Pope connects this passenger with a number of New England records, some (and perhaps all) of which could not apply to the passenger [Pope 115]. In particular, a servant who was 15 or 17 in 1635 could not become a Salem proprietor in 1636, this making it unlikely that any of the Salem records cited by Pope could apply to this passenger.

Savage gives the age of the passenger as 27, also suggesting he was the Salem man [Savage 1:447].

According to the comment on the page. Anderson doesn't think this guy is the same as the guy who sailed on the Abigail. I'm adding NNS to this, since he was a founder of Gravesend, and have contacted the leader.

I added the profile to the New Netherland project, although he's one of a number of people who lived in the geographic area of New Netherland but appear to have had no connection to the Dutch community, and thus are of no particular interest to the New Netherland project.
Thanks Ellen

Thanks so much, guys.

An Early Long Island Settlers subproject would be ideal for guys like John. Maybe someone reading this will be inspired... laugh
