The History of Parliament incorrectly provides a mixed surname

3s. inc. Robert Skipwith† (d.v.p.) and Hamon Skipwith†, at least 2da.[1] With the footnote, is it possible to gain any more information? I always find the History of Parliament (HOP) footnotes obscure - perhaps they have an index to the abbreviated names? In this case, no error has appeared on the WikiTree profile, I was just examining the HOP thoroughly because it seems odd that so few ancestors are known.

The surname of his sons was Sutton, not Skipwith as is shown on History of Parliament - an apparent transcription error.

I am also curious as to whether this line of Suttons might be related to the barons Sutton of Dudley.

It's rare to find errors on HOP, but this instance highlights that human beings transcribed the voluminous work. I'm sure the site would like to receive notification of corrections, but I haven't seen an indication of a recipient for suggested corrections.

Thanks Helen, you beat me to it, though I think the Lincoln Record Society is volume 74 which seems to be the later one in the same series of Register of Repingdon

Archer, M. ed., The register of Bishop Philip Repingdon, 1405-1419. Vol. III: Memoranda, 1414-1419, Lincoln Record Society, 74 (1982)

Either way, they are probably too recent to find online anywhere.

Testamenta Eboracensia, Vol1 is here
