What is the source for Sarah (Underhill) Budd born 1678 marrying Samuel Purdy b. 1695? [closed]

It was very unusual for a man to marry a woman so much his senior.  What evidence is there that she, the widow of Joseph Budd, married Samuel Purdy?

None of the  “sources” listed in these answers  can be verified.  They are from compiled genealogies and pedigree charts, not sources.  There is no evidence that Sarah (underhill)Budd Married a Samuel Purdy.

WikiTree profile: Sarah Purdy

Could we close this thread now.  I have supplied the answer to your query as to source of ....and edited the profiles involved.

As I pointed out I did not enter the marriage date as it is not supplied in the source, just the fact that they married.

I see the date of 10 Oct 1728 on some rootsweb trees (there are 50+ trees, here are some, I see one posting a source of the date:

https://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mbwheeler&id=I090307 cites Dave Buchroeder at ancestry.co.uk: [Buchroeder@telus.net].

others: but no source

There is a lot of research necessary, however, if you look at Budd, Purdy, and search for Underhill you may uncover the answers you seek.

I believe, if I recall correctly, this is the biblical record kept by the Irving family.  The same said of Washington Irving.  I believe if I read correctly, by his brother.  There was something I glanced over about "Sleepy Hollow" and Rye, but that's it.  It wasn't info I was looking into so moved on.

I think, based on my cursory reading of the info, is that there were three successions of Samuel Purdy.  The I, the II, and the III.  I believe the latter was an esteemed judge.

It is not unlikely that either a Sarah Budd or a Sarah Underhill would have married into the family.  The Purdys were a respected family.  The Underhills, you will find, often in this history of Westchester (as well as Rye), and most definitely the Budds as well.

Hope this information is helpful.  I find it absolutely confusing how the author wrote it down, but a more learned/experience person might understand the lineage outlined in these family lines.

EDIT:  The pages in question, in case it doesn't retain my search are 509, and 538 or 539.

EDIT 2:  Please, if you find what you need to either corroborate or correct, use proper book citations.  Calvin College provides a means for doing this called KnightCite, which provides you with every option you might need to cite a source.

I did a cursory look on Family Search and found nothing at all for her except an unsourced tree.

Thank you very much for looking.   without any evidence it seems unlikely they were married.

Thank you for looking.  From what I could see it said the “source” was a pedigree chart.  Is there anything concrete?
Thank you all for searching.  We came up empty.  Torrey says she “?m/2 Samuel Purdy.”    The profile gives a date for a marriage but Torrey does not,  I’ve found no supporting evidence for such marriage.

What happens now?   Can we remove Samuel Purdy as a second husband for lack of evidence ?  (“sources” are mostly ancestry trees.). If another  researcher comes up with a plausible 2nd husband there would be room for him.
Anne, sent you a message on this.
Ann I have now supplied two published sources to answer your query.  Please close the discussion.  Thank You.
That rootsweb tree did not cite a source

The source is listed here https://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mbwheeler&id=I090307 cites as source Dave Buchroeder at ancestry.co.uk:

Edit: Moderator removed the email address.

The rootsweb tree gives a date for a marriage of Sarah Underhill and Samuel Purdy (No source cited).  It doesn’t”t say Sarah Budd, widow Married Samuel Purdy

Another source naming both of Purdy's wives is an article on Purdys in NEHGS New Englanders in Nova Scotia:  <ref>Subscription access: NEHGS New Englanders in Nova Scotia https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/tree/27380418/person/26037781448/media/fbd6b613-2b60-4431-9a7a-dc65bc039c3b?_phsrc=tNV1894&_phstart=successSource...

If you need to see this page I can copy it to you privately from the source link above.

I didn’t see in Ye history of Greenwich anything about Sarah (underhill) Budd Marrying A Samuel Purdy,   No compiled genealogies I’ve seen have  a  cited source.   If the Nehgs article cites a source I would love to see it.   thank you.
