Is Kathie Lee Gifford related to Rudyard Kipling?

Question

According to her Wikipedia article, Kathie Lee Gifford's mother, Joan Cuttell Epstein, is a relative of British-Indian author, Rudyard Kipling. I've seen a few links online allude to this, that it is through Rudyard's Lockwood relatives, but nothing I could find cited sources. 

Does anyone want to take a look at connecting these two? Here's a link to Rudyard Kipling's profile (which is open), and if anyone wants to be added to the trusted list for Kathie Lee, just ask me.

Hi Erin

Yesterday I uploaded a small Gedcom beginning with her mother Joan Cuttell. It only has about 25 people in it & it does not yet have a connection to Rudyard Kipling. It's a start if anyone wants to help. Rudyard Kipling is not part of my Lockwood line to my knowledge.

I took a look at Caroline Starr (Balestier) Kipling wife of Rudyard  After filling in some missing profiles her parents,  Henry Wolcott Balestier and Anna (Smith) Balestier, are 19th cousins.

 

It seems highly likely that there should be a connection between the Wolcott line and the Lockwoods.  Both are very old and very large families.
