Are GEDCOMs Stored @ Wikitree / Can they be recovered?

Question

and if they can - can they be given to someone else (on Wikitree) other than the person who uploaded them ?( If the orginator has left Wikitree or they have ophaned off their profiles) or even the person who uploaded them years ago an no longer has a copy?

Why

So that work can be attempted on profiles, like the one below that are almost empty (ophaned - with no links, no dates, no locations - just the original gedcom noted and maybe a little bit more) to connect and/or construct missing profiles that would connect profiles up, based on the data from the original Gedcom

Phyllis's profile was just one example of the nearly 16,000 'Unconnected empty open profiles' on Wikitree

- Why I was asking about the original gedcom file is that I have programs that can take these files, reread them, pulling in some of the missed or left out data that the Wikitree interpreter may not have been able to pick up (or even be looking for at the time) and reinterpret them in an attempt to fill in the missing bits, a bit quicker, so then I could fix up the links on Wikitree

Sorry, I wrote a long spiel about GEDcoms, but you are talking about orphaned profiles.

You may adopt the profiles on that gedcom if you wish to work on them - add sources, write a biography , add relatives etc.

But to answer your question - NO - the original GEDcom will no longer still be on the wikitree servers. Gedcoms are usually deleted after all the profiles have been created.

Sources can be searched for on Ancestry, Family search, FMP, My Heritage, Newspaper Archives and many other places.

Never mind - I was trying to avoid creating 'Recyclables' out of them (if I cant find linking profiles)

These appear to be from GEDcoms that were upload from around 2011 to about 2016 - so not new :-)

- 90% only have a name ( some times only the LNAB) and the GEDCOM file they came from - so not readily identifieable as an individual, so cant really go looking for them anywhere else (without first linking them to those that might have also been on the GEDCOM.

Looks like Ill have to do a bit more detective work on Wikitree with text search (Linked with LNAB look ups) to see if I can find others from the same GEDCOM and go from there.

Seems to be a Phyllis Aday in Texas/Arizona b. abt 1917. If this profile is not connected to anyone else I will be glad to source it with these sources I have found. Native American on the Indian Census.

Graham, if you wish to find all the profiles from a single uploaded gedcom, this link will put them all in a nice list for you

Replace the Your_Gedcom with the name of the gedcom using underscores for any spaces, hyphens or full stops.

Once the page loads, press the GET PROFILES button
