The Harvey Name Study is looking for volunteers. You can read about the goals and how you can both help and benefit from participating in the name study at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Harvey_Name_Study

This is a world wide study so all Harvey's researchers are encouraged to use categories to research Harvey populations, migrations, Harvey Brick Walls. This study uses location groups such as Scotland, England and the United States. I am hoping to recruit researchers from all areas where the Harvey lineage has lived to help with researching within their area.  If willing, please contact me!

In your list of famous people you might want to add Paul.

Edit:  Now I see that Paul Harvey went by his first and middle name, LNAB was Aurandt.  Never mind. (Although maybe a footnote might be helpful to avoid confusion)
Do you want civil war vets?
Yes, we want all Harvey, Harvey, Harvie, Herve, et.al. family members.

No problem.yes

Yes I have Harvey’s in my tree and dna match to a lot of Harvey’s
Paul Harvey and his son, a/k/a Paul Harvey actually had a last name beginning with "A". I went to high school with Paul Harvey, ..... Jr.

By the way, he played a wicked 7' rabbit in the school play, "Harvey".

;~)

I have lots of Harveys in my tree but have BIG questions about my findings. My Grandmother said on her naturalization papers that her father, George Harvey, came from Scotland. Most of my research says he was Quebecois back to 1600, then came from France. This makes no sense to me. I would be happy to see your findings, but don't know what I can contribute.

Hi Cora, I have managed to trace my Harveys to a DNA Match with surname Herve in Canada whose family was from France many centuries ago. Your George Harvey could have possibly been in Canada and then settled back in Scotland. Although my surname is now Walker, my ancestors were Harveys before 1840 with some spelled Hervey and Herve, even Heve.
Thanks Kay, I have the Canadian Harveys (Herve, etc,) with DNA matches also. But the naturalization papers, and his ship captain documents make this confusing. As you say, he might have gone back to Glasgow for the mate/captain papers; we also have a census record that says he spoke "Scottish" not Francais. Add to this that  George Harvey is a common name with many spellings...just makes it more interesting! Again, thanks for your idea!

I went through all my Harveys and added the categories, it took a few hours since I have a lot of Harveys. There were several states missing from the categories, I don't know if you want to add them but I had many Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Colorado, California and New Mexico

I have many Harveys, mostly in England. My Walker surname used to be Harvey before 1840 when my GGGF changed it. We have found no definite reason for the change but it could have been business-related as George Harvey was a Blacksmith. We have DNA confirmation with 5th and 6th Harvey cousins from before the name change.

I have some Harvie's in my tree, which was an alternate spelling in the Renfrewshire, Scotland area. [[Harvie-526]] and [[Harvie-527]].  I will add these to the one-name study.

There is a website Histoire des Harvey québécois in which Richard Harvey provides a history of the Quebec Harvey. Many of my Harvey ancestors are mentioned in his story.

I have lots of Harvey relatives in my tree.  I don't know a lot about all of this so I'm just curious about something.  Since Wikitree is a one tree program, why is it not possible to run some kind of search function and find all the different Harvey's and information you need for your project?

Not related to Harvey/Harvies, but I did a lot of work on Harvies/Grieves family who are from NB and NS and related to BC tombstones.

What is the sticker or category that I should add to these, please?

I have Harveys in my tree. My 2xgreat grandfather and his family emigrated to New Zealand. I have already added my grandmother and her siblings, but no male descendants from my great grandfather. Mine are the only profiles in the New Zealand category. Should I add those born in Scotland who emigrated to New Zealand in both the New Zealand and Scotland categories.
by Margaret Allison G2G6 Mach 4 (41.8k points)
Yes, definitely.

Should I put my Walkers in the New Zealand category because they are genetic Harveys? [see my other answer above]
by Kay Walker G2G5 (5.0k points)
No, I'll create a New Zealand category for them today. Can you give me the profile number for one that should be in the New Zealand category.
