Look-up request, England 1939 Register [closed]

As a non-subscriber, I can only see the "teaser", and it looks like the best clue to enable me to extend my son's maternal ggrandfather's line.

On FindMyPast, a search for Ida Grace Stevens born 1898 gives me

1939 Register Transcription (Preview), Stevens Household, Wellington R.D. Somerset, England, First Name: Ida G., Last Name: Stevens, Birth Year 1898, Blanche Bullivant and one more person are on this record, 2 more people who are officially closed.

I believe that the "one more person" will be my William Charles Stevens, and that his birth details in this record may give me enough to identify him in birth and census records.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated !.

The records are closed and you will need to apply to open them, a death certificate is required and if not a Findmypast member charges apply.

If you put Wellington R.D. for "borough/district" and Blanche Bullivant for "other household member" and leave everything else blank, it shows that the third household member is Rose Holland born 1871.

On the Ancestry site - 1939 Register  it gives:-

Whiteway Road, Bristol

Stevens William  born 25 August 1896 Disabled ex serviceman Army pension.

followed by

Stevens Ida E9 February 1898

Stevens Raymond WG  1923

Stevens Joan M 1925

Stevens David S 1926

Hope this helps

Luckily there is another source for her husband's birth date. Here is the image of the entry for Ida Grace Stevens and her husband William Charles Stevens when they travelled to Australia in 1955:

laugh Wow, thank you Marion, Samantha, Valerie and Paul for your efforts and inputs, even though the answers were not exactly what I expected, they have given me a lot to work with!  Paul - your last contribution put a big smile on my face - very grateful for that record!

He'd be #1 in the 1939 Register in any case, before Ida.

Using Paul's birthdate I suggest this is your William, at home with his parents James (marriage says Joseph) William and Alice Mary (nee Eagland) Stevens

"England and Wales Census, 1901," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X946-RTV : 8 April 2016), William C Stevens in household of James W Stevens, Mile End Old Town, London, Middlesex, England; from "1901 England, Scotland and Wales census," database and images, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : n.d.); citing Mile End Old Town Eastern subdistrict, PRO RG 13, The National Archives, Kew, Surrey

He was probably in the services at that time and hence not listed with the family.
Here is the baptism record confirming that the parents of William Charles Stevens, born 20 January 1900, are Joseph William Stevens and his wife Alice Mary (the birth date is shown in the image but not the transcription):

Name: William Charles Stevens
Gender: Male
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 11 Feb 1900
Baptism Place: Mile End Old Town Holy Trinity, Tower Hamlets, England
Father: Joseph William Stevens
Mother: Alice Mary Stevens
Register Type: Parish Registers

Thanks Matthew - I probably agree with you, and also just found the marriage record of Joseph William and Alice Amy Eagland!  Just trying to figure out why I can't find his death record - assuming "family info" is more or less correct and he died around 1974, death records after 1969 give birth dates, and I have not found one with 20 Jan 1900 . . . . any ideas?

Thanks again

The birth date given at time of death can be supplied by someone not that close to the deceased and it might be a guesstimate!
Possibly Marion, - the passenger list that Paul found shows him as a "company director", which fits with "family lore" that one of these Stevens ancestors was a director of a telecomms company absorbed by British Telecoms, - so also possible that he was away from home for business reasons. Thanks
