When attempting to connect my AncestryDNA info, the form asks for a GED Match ID. Can you give me more information about this ID so I can locate that?

Register at www.gedmatch.com then follow GEDmatch's instructions to upload your AncestryDNA results.  Then you will get your GEDmatch ID which you should add on your DNA Tests page.   This will make it much easier to compare results with other AncestryDNA testers as well as 23andMe and Family Finder testers who have uploaded to GEDmatch.

Sincerely, Peter
I did register and upload.  But although I have my Kit number, I do not have a GEDMatch ID.  Where would I see that?
If you have registered at GEDmatch then you can enter your e-mail address at

https://www.gedmatch.com/user_lookup1.php

and then you will be able to see your GEDmatch ID

Hello Jared,

Do you get an invalid link if you are both registered and logged into GEDmatch?

Just to be clear... Your Kit Number at Gedmatch.com is the correct ID to associate with your DNA information on WikiTree.  Ancestry kit numbers start with an "A."

Ancestry currently does not allow one to directly upload autosomal DNA results for other labs for matching and comparison. Gedmatch.com facilitates the comparison of results from different testing services, including Ancestry, FTDNA, and 23andMe.

I think many people must be confusing the GedMatch.com terms:

A GedMatch Number begins with A, M, T etc followed by 6 digits - this is your uploaded Raw DNA file.

A GedCom ID is the assigned number for a .ged format Tree file which you extract from your genealogy program and may also upload when logged in to your Gedmatch.com  Account.

Gedmatch provides help files, videos and instructions in the INFO section on the left side of the screen when you are logged in to your account.

Here is a link that explains what the DNA GEDMatch is. I don't believe you 'have' to include a GEDMatch ID if you have the Ancestry number.
