Elizabeth Sydenham had no children by either Sir Francis Drake or Sir William Courtenay, so you are certainly not a descendant; even if you were, an autosomal DNA test would be unable to confirm a relationship that far back -- the limit of usefulness of autosomal testing is around 10-12 generations, since DNA is lost in every generation due to recombination;the chance of having an autosomal DNA match with a tenth cousin (who shares ninth great-grandparents) is one in five thousand.

This page will help you.

Help: DNA Tests

I would recommend using Ancestry as they have the largest user database so you will likely get the most matches there.

Ancestry is a good place to go if you are American - especially if your family has ties back to colonial or revolutionary America.

If you are from Britain or Europe, then I would suggest My Heritage or Living DNA.

My Heritage does have a smaller database, but it is has a lot more international matches and records.

Living DNA has recently announced that it will start publishing DNA matches and these should be fairly specific to Britain.

You can also upload your raw DNA to Gedmatch (Genesis) and obtain more matches from those who tested with other companies as well.
