I have been able to find rather esoteric sources that are underutilized and beneficial by scouring the source lists, per person, at "Famous Kin."

For the main person of interest, whose origins are in dispute, the below should be vetted (noting that at least one or two overlap with a presently cited sourcing on the person's profile page):

Sources listed for Thomas Carter (ca. 1650 - 22 Oct 1700) by Famous Kin

Thank You Fann. The Study Page was actually started to discuss Thomas Carter of Ilse of Wight.  Supposed son of William Carter of Surry.  Who a great deal of geneolist beleive is the son of William Carter of Surry based on a vast amount of circumstantial evidence.  But this is not good enough for a group of wikitree members.  So when I afirst asked another member if she had heard that William Carter of Surry had a Brother and son named Thomas the next thing I knew the input from another member had decided there was no valid evidence and Thomas Carter could not have William Carter of Surry added as his parent.  I am aware of most of the sources you have provided. At this point in time input from other members will just add to the already very messed up Thomas Carter issue.

What needs to be done is Thomas Carter of Ilse of Wight , husband of Elinor Cook needs to have William Carter of Surry as his father. But good luck with that. If you want to fight the Wikitree tide go for it.
