Have you ever created a profile just because the person's name was so great?

Buena Vista Holman!
WikiTree profile: Buena Wilson
in The Tree House by Living Tardy G2G6 Pilot (770k points)

I have a Buena Vista Lowe on my watchlist, but the spelling is not verified by birth documentation.

I also have a Mt. Vernon Kern(s), which is recorded in her birth record.

But I didn't create their profiles because of their great names - I created their profiles because THEY were great!wink

A profile with blank location fields, Lindy.  Tsk, tsk.  sad

Buena Vista Holman's parents were from Kentucky, too.  Small darn world.

I once prepared a tax return for a woman, first name Ivy-My-Love. I have had that name in my mind for years, donʻt recall the surname so cannot do a profile.

I think you may need glasses, Herbert!cool

I did just edit those profiles, but they already had locations.

Mea culpa, Lindy.  The yellow lock hides the locations.

I didn't think about that!

Alas, I can't change it since I'm not the profile manager.crying Why do they get all the COOL despotic powers!!devil

I've been puzzling over where late-19th century Kentuckians would get the idea to name a daughter Buena Vista.  I think it was in honor of the Battle of Buena Vista in the Mexican War, in which Jefferson Davis was wounded.  Just a theory.

Might be. I’ve got a Buena Vista Dalton about time period.
Yes I have... Zaphnath-Paarneah Musson.

Herbert, only a few days ago I resisted that impulse.  I was going through a hit list from a fuzzy search that gave all instances of first name (with variants) OR last name (with variants) in any field of person's name, mother's name, father's name.  It was Jews born in late 1800's in Poland and very tedious work, so a high point was when I encountered Haia Laia Wajnsztat.  She is the mother of someone I'm not interested in but I couldn't resist wondering if she had something to do with the invention of the popular sport Jai Alai.  I managed to restrain myself from getting carried away to the point of creating her profile, but if you want to I'll gladly pass along the information I found about her.

Oh, yes. I came across a guy named Sherebiah Lambert.  And then another.  And there were already profiles here for two others . . .

I created a profile for my first cousin twice removed.  Her name was...drum roll...Charlotte Himalaya Carter.

Did her mother call her 'Himalaya' because the birth was an uphill struggle?

Here's an article with a nice assortment:

https://www.americanancestors.org/DB487/i/14050/101/35086157

There are some really weird ones in there, but my favorites were the simple "Patience Short" and "Freelove Wanton"

How about the famous Texas sisters, Ima Hogg and Ura Hogg. Here’s Ima’s  Wikipedia page.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ima_Hogg

But Ura is just an urban legend but one told often when I was younger.
