orphaned file adoptions

Greetings Wikitreeers!

I am new to wikitree.  It's fun to work on this tree.  My maiden name is barrows.  When looking at the orphaned files for that surname I find that there are several of one family line that are orphaned.  My heart goes out to them!  They are related to me.  I'd love to adopt a lot of them but is that prudent?  I don't want to over extend myself and possibly hold up progress by someone else.  Silly worries?

You might want to adopt a couple.  Work on that couple a bit.  Wholesale adoption of a line is probably not a great idea, esp. early in your experience here.  But adoption is good.  You can always abandon the ones you adopt later.  But perhaps they will have gained from their time with you.

You can also contribute to them without adopting them.

I frequently come across orphaned profiles that I add sources and data to without ever adopting them.
