I assume you're referring to the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving since the Canadian holiday is long gone, and most countries don't set aside a day. However, since this idea could work any time, not just on a specific U.S. holiday, I wonder how well it would work. I'm a proficient researcher, and my brick walls have that status for a reason. Unless another person had access to an esoteric resource that I have yet to encounter, they'd run into the same problems that I have, and thus even more of us would have wasted valuable time not finding out anything new. But others will presumably be more optimistic.
