The original pencil drawings were passed down to me from my grandmother, Margaret Bell Hanna, b. Lewisburg, WV,  Elizabeth Doswell and Litltleton Goodwin were her great great grandparents.  THeir daughter married Augustine Lewis, and their daughter married Rodes Massie who was my grandmother's grandfather.

I wanted to share this family photo of Elizabeth Goodwin with the community. Location: Carolina County, Virginia. Date: .

Wow and fabulous, what great pencil drawings.  I am not an artist but i do know that faces are very difficult to do.  Perhaps that is why they are in profile?  None the less, these are very cool.  You are very lucky to have these momentos.  Thank you so much for sharing.

I wonder if the story of these pics included who drew them. A family member perhaps? Was there a signature?

Pip, you always ask such cool questions.  Thank you.
I was an investigative reporter.... just kidding.

Thanks!

Thanks Pip for the best answer.

I could not find any kind of signature on the back or on the original two frames which still have though they look really bad.  I did share copy with someone at the historical center in the county site of Caroline County, just north of Richmond, thinking someone else might have drawings of a similar style  and time frame but I never heard from anyone.  .
Maybe take it to an art appraiser? Bet he/she could tell you more: time period, value, etc.
I did show it to a college art faculty member who identified the style as from the colonial era; his comment was that there were artists who traveled around drawing pictures of people to make a living.  I wish I knew someone who could tell me more.

Great hand drawn sketches. I love their clothing. What perfect curls on Elizabeth, and I love the mob cap Elizabeth is wearing.

Littleton looks like he has a Titus hairstyle, a Viceroy dress shirt, and a double breasted waist coat.

I just love these pictures.

Thank you for sharing with your WikiTree family.

I have learned that these two drawings cannot  be of Elizabeth and Littleton Goodwin; that the were made by Silon Amos Henkel, 1813 - 1844.  They look very much like others he has done, so I'm back to determining who these might be.  Sorry for the confusion and for misleading.
