I don't follow how to use the Source part of the site can someone please help

so I use https://www.myheritage.com/ as my source is this not a reliable one as I find it hard to find anything here in New Zealand

Sources are usually things like birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, quotes from newpapers or family history books that back up what you've put in the data section. Some people post actual scans of the documents, if they have them, or you can quote another reliable source, such an online database frorm the state archives.

Also, click on the "Edit" tab on the profile page and a text box will open where you can add biography and sources. There are some examples of sources to the right of that box.

It is fine to cite a specific record on myHeritage as a source. Linking to a tree on myHeritage would not normally be considered acceptable as that may or may not be sourced. Just using the myHeritage site url is not sufficient as anyone trying to figure out which records you used would have to start from scratch and do their own search.

Try familysearch.org - this is a free site and you should be able to get it in NZ.
