1746 - Roelof Couvenhoven witnessed Jan Schenck's will (if trancription of a primary source was accurate & accurately included in the profile for Jan).

Most frequently found reference in search of columbia.edu library is van Couwenhoven. (just one hit with "K" - without the van - from 1850s).

I think for Jan's wife Sarah, it should be van Couwenhoven, but I couldn't find a reference to her specifically.

still not a reference to her, but another Columbia Library reference (1630 timeframe):

van wolfert Geritsz - Wolphert Gerritsen [van Couwenhovan]... Wolphert Gerritsz was from Amersfoort, and is often referred to as Wolfert Gerritsz van Couwenhoven, Couwenhoven being  a farm or estate about 4 miles north-west from Amersfoort, in the province of Utrecht (Holland).

last one... see this Columbia Library reference (index that shows yet another version: Couwenhouen).
